CHARLES FORD SCHOLARSHIP

The Traralgon Swimming Club Inc. is pleased to introduce the Charles Ford Scholarship, which honors the memory of the late Charles Ford and his contribution to swimming and to the Traralgon Swimming Club. Charles competed for the Traralgon Swimming Club for over 17 years at District, Country, State and National level until his untimely death at age 25 in 1987.

Purpose of the Scholarship

The Club and his family wish to make this scholarship available to assist a competitive swimmer with potential who may not have access to the standard of coaching and opportunities available through the Traralgon Swimming Club. The successful applicant will be placed in an appropriate squad with highly motivated and committed swimmers.

Who is Eligible

Applicants are to be competitive swimmers, aged 12 years and over with an "attitude to success" together with the swimming potential to be a National competitor. Traralgon Swimming Club members are not eligible to apply.

Period of Scholarship

Two years (1st June 2004 to 31st May 2006) subject to continuous review during the Scholarship period.

What is included in the scholarship

¢ Free coaching and gym training ($800. pa)
¢ Subsidized entry to swimming complexes used by the Club. ($300. pa)
¢ Free entry and fees to Country, State and National Championships ($150-$200)
¢ Club uniform - t-shirt, tracksuit and caps provided ($200.)
¢ Specialist training support sponsorship ($200)

Value of the Scholarship

Estimated total value $3,000 over two years.
